After You Apply – Your Next Steps

Thank you for applying to Southeastern University!  Admission decisions are made by Southeastern University when your admission file is complete.  Don’t forget to complete your Southeastern University application file by submitting all the required documents.  Below is your admission checklist.

Admission Checklist

Official High School Transcript, Homeschool Transcript, or GED Score | If you are completing your senior year, ask your guidance counselor to help you send a preliminary high school transcript.  After you graduate, your high school will need to send a final transcript with your graduation date and final grades.  (A high school transcript is required if you’ve earned fewer than 60 hours of college credit.)

College Transcripts – if applicable  |  If you plan to transfer credits earned at another college or university, you will need to order an official transcript from each college and university you attended.  If you have earned 60 or more hours of college credit, you do not need to submit a high school transcript.  SEU allows you to transfer in as many as 90 credit hours toward a bachelor’s degree.

All official transcripts should be sent directly by email to Mary Harmison ( or by mail to the address below:

Official transcripts can also be sent to the Southeastern University Admissions Office in Lakeland, Florida.

Christian Character Reference |  In the application portal, provide contact information for one or more references.  SEU will accept the reference who responds first.

Biographical Essay  |  In the application portal, please submit your essay for the following essay prompt: “Describe the beginning and present growth of your relationship with God and how you see yourself as a good match for Southeastern’s academic and spiritual environment.”  Don’t overthink it.  Write it, have someone proofread it for you, and upload it.

Apply for Financial Aid

Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form at  The SEU FAFSA code is 001521.  Once you are admitted to SEU and you have completed your FAFSA, the office of Student Financial Services will notify you of your financial aid award package via your SEU student email account.

Apply for Housing

For residential students only:  Secure your student apartment and pay the $150 housing application fee as soon as possible.  The application fee is non-refundable but is applied toward your annual housing cost.  It is important to read through all the housing information at the above link.  Students who apply for housing after June 30 are not guaranteed a space; housing will be assigned as units become available.

Register for New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is mandatory for all incoming students, including online students.  During orientation, we introduce you to SEU Ohio support staff, help you access SEU systems, register for classes, access your financial aid, complete missing documents, and understand payment obligations.  It’s a day that is foundational for your academic success.  Register here.
