The Summer Leadership Experience powered by SEU Ohio.

Columbus, Ohio, January 3rd, 2018

SEU Ohio is excited to announce the first summer leadership experience for high school and college students. “This is all providing a taste about what life in Christ-centered community is like in the real world” said Executive Director, Dave Pafford.  The experience starts June 4th and ends July 20th 2018 and takes place in part at Kenyon Square Apartment.

Students are welcome to participate as an intern with Ohio Youth Ministries or intern at other Columbus area churches or simply to take in the experience of life in a big city. Says Pafford, “It’s very clear that many students haven’t had enough exposure to what it means to do life on their own. Often those initial “leave home” experiences for students are coupled with a lot of negative experimentation because they are simply trying to fit in. Here’s an opportunity for those students to have a great experience in a safe, positive environment over several weeks.

Campus leadership invites students to join with other high school and college students, who are coming for the summer.

Students considering may be part of several weeks of youth camp. (Students would sleep at Heartland Conference and Retreat Center during your camp). Students will be staying at Kenyon Square during the other weeks (including weekends). Or a student might be a college student from another college doing an internship at a church in Columbus. Here’s a great (inexpensive) housing option for them and the church they intern at to consider.

As part of the experience, SEU Ohio Campus leadership will be providing several community events including hosting several community dinners for participants, pool party with steaks on the pad, a game night with several card games, bowling at Star lanes, and renting the Kenyon Square theater for two movie nights. All of those community events ARE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE.

The cost is $600 per participant. In addition, we require a refundable $300 deposit for securing your apartment spot. (There are 4 spots per apartment). The full $600 is required before the start date. The $300 deposit is refunded at checkout when apartment is clean. These are luxury style apartments which include full kitchen and laundry functions. Please visit the student housing page for details on the rooms.

A student must be between the ages of 16-23 to participate. They must also have a valid drivers license. (Current SEU Students who wish to live in the SEU Ohio apartments and pay the $590 per month for the two summer months, may also participate in community events). Please note that the summer leadership experience is not an accredited course.
